ABOUT SITE
And so here I will give you a brief "about the site" kind of thing, however if you don't wish to read my whole "how The Vines are so wonderful" essay, please see the links above. :)

I made the site because..I'm in love with their music. It keeps me going, makes me happy, makes me sing out loud, makes me jump around..etc etc. The Vines are one of my favorite bands. They're amazing. Their songs are surreal and loud at the same time..their performances are stunning, their view on music is admirable...In these next few paragraphs I will TRY to tell you (I don't really know how to put it in words) about how I learned about them and what they mean to me.
The Vines. My my, where do I begin? I learned about The Vines over the summer. Probably around end of June. When I first saw their stuff, I wasn't too interested. At that time I had my electronic, drum and bass phase, Moby (I usually use that kind of music to design) so yeah that was all I listened to, but then one night I gave them a chance and really listened to their music and I fell in love. Over the next few days, I could only listen to their "Get Free" song. I started reading up on the band. The more I read, the more I became fascinated. Not only is their music wonderful, but the band itself is great. They're not the "we get along all the time" kind of people, but they're real and that's better than pretending. Craig is my favorite member of the band, although the other guys are also very interesting (and hilarious). He's my favorite because his lyrics are so diverse and so is his way of thinking..and his views on things. I love, especially, how he always says music is a spiritual thing and it should be shared. His passion, determination and dedication makes him a very admirable person. It makes me better myself, like..make myself more dedicated with my art. The other guys' patience with him is also very admirable. ;)

The Vines and their music. I am just in love with their music. The guitar riffs, the drums, the bass..all such beautiful sound ideas. It's not the most complicated around, but it certainly shows their talent and all the emotions and thoughts behind each song. I love their music because I can connect with it. If I'm feeling blue, I'll turn on a slower song and feel loads better after a while or if I'm happy, then a nice loud song only makes me feel even better. Each song is very comforting and fun. It's hard to really describe how all of it makes me feel..because I just can't find the right words. My taste in rock has always been kind of retro/classic/indie and The Vines fit right in. A while before I found them, I was sick of most of today's music, so you can imagine how happy I was when I found their music. It was definitely very refreshing. Aside from their music being wonderful, their music has gotten me to listen to a lot of different genres from all over the world (international, national, yo momma, etc :P) and it's just amazing. I'm finding a lot great bands and have never loved music more than I do now.

Inspirational. Sometimes when I listen to The Vines, I just concentrate on their instruments. The guitar riffs seem almost surreal..very beautiful. However, anyway, when I concentrate on their instruments, it just gives me all these ideas. It makes me want to create art (my love, my lust, my everything) and just, their dedication and passion for their music pushes me to be dedicated to my work as well. It has allowed me to be free, to try new things and to grow so much with my art. I couldn't thank them enough for that.
Girl. My name is Annie. I'm 20 and geeky. I'm very passionate with art and am an aspiring graphic designer. I also enjoy listening to music, reading, attempting to play guitar, trying to make phat beats with my friends and making the lamest jokes. (Then laughing at them.) Maladroit.com is my main web site and I've got a page to the Arctic Monkeys.

Site history. This site started on October 12th, 2002 and has been up on the web since. It has only had one layout before this current one. The title comes from the band's debut album, Highly Evolved because I believed that that title truly captured all the aspects of the band and their music. Highly Evolved is and always was hosted on Maladroit.com. View the first version of Highly Evolved here.
Current Layout Information + Credits. (Note this layout was created in March of 2004.) Layout created by me and I am very proud of it, especially since it's 100% constructed by me. Vector of the band based off a press image found on TheVines.com. Concept of layout is supposed to feature both the album covers for Highly Evolved and Winning Days. Flash required. A lot of blood, sweat and tears went into this layout so I do hope you enjoy it. Information collected from way too many places to list (consisting of mainly articles I've read and made mental notes). All content on this page was written by me and images screen capped/scanned by me so please ask before using.

Special Thanks. I'd like to thank my friends (you guys know who you are) for helping me with the redesign. It took a good month to come up with everything and a good week to construct the page. I couldn't have done it without your guys' support and you guys giving me that extra push when I was lazy. :P Also, thanks to The Vines for all their inspiration and great music, really helped me design the page.

* If you have anything to contribute to this site, please e-mail it to me. I will be most grateful.
