WELCOME TO HIGHLY EVOLVED
I know I know, you're probably thinking, "Good lorddddd that is the most unoriginal title ever." Actually, as I was searching for Vines sites, all I could see were "The Vines Unofficial UK Site Translated in Chinese" and what not, so I decided to name it after their album. Naming it after one song would not catch all the aspects of the band. Speaking of the band, this site is dedicated to quite possibly one of the greatest bands there are, The Vines. Their music is wonderful and very inspiring. I fell in love with their music over the summer of 2002 and eventually, it led to this web site. This site is more focused on Craig, however, because he is possibly my greatest influence and a huge inspiration to me. From the way he performs, to his views on music to the band's music and his passion for creating music/art..etc. It's great. I didn't want to make another site dedicated to just one person (Like my Rivers site) so I decided to cover the entire band. Anyway, kick back, relax and hope you enjoy the site.
You are currently viewing version two (finally a new version) of Highly Evolved. It features images illustrated/animated by me from my own crazy, discombobulated head. To read more about it click here.
Happy Birthday Mr. Craig Nicholls!
TheVines.org wishes Mr. Craig Nicholls a very happy 29th birthday. :)
In Next Week's NME...
The Vines will be in next week's NME (August 26 with Arctic Monkeys on the cover) - Remember to go pick it up! Should be on newstands in the UK next week and in the US two weeks later. For more information, see NME.com.
Er, The Vines are back..too!
So it's been a while since I've updated. I apologize and assure you that just because I'm not updating doesn't mean I don't love The Vines. (I still listen, on a daily basis.) That said, lots going on in The Vines camp that just screams for a post!
The guys played a secret show at the Annandale the other day followed by an appearance in Splendour In the Grass Festival (they came on as "Joe Dirt" haha - read more about it here.) Both appearances featured their new bassist, Brad Heald, of whom is also a friend of the band. I'm happy to have read that both were very well received and The Vines will be touring once again! Their UK tourdates are as follows:
Thursday, August 24th - Rescue Rooms, Nottingham Friday, August 25th - Reading Festival Saturday, August 26th - Leeds Festival Tuesday, August 29th - Forum, London
Sorry everyone. I was in California for a week and I ended up seeing Arctic Monkeys and We Are Scientists on Friday in San Diego. Stuff on this will be posted here if anyone cares. Site should be getting back up soon, as far as anything getting updated and what not. Apologies apologies, I'm the worst webmaster ever. I was too busy partying. :)
A Little Note from Me to You
Okay, I'm fully aware there's a lot going on in the Vines camp right now. They just did a Channel V performance, which is awesome. There will be a live stream Monday, May 29, 8pm (Australian time.)
In other news, I'll be out of town for a week and a few days. Just a heads up. Tell you guys about it when I get back. :D Deuce mother goose!
Click here to watch The Vines new video for "Anysound". Directed by Oliver Gondry, brother of Michel Gondry. Interesting claymation and "Ride"-like set. I'm also really late with this but, "Anysound" will be released on CD in the UK on May 22nd. Sorry for lack of everything lately. It's exam time. :X
